Sun and Moon Unite at the Equinox

The sun is moving into Aries, and the moon, which has recently passed through its Dakini phase, will join the sun in the first degree of Aries as it begins its new moon phase on the equinox. The equinox is the part of the solar cycle where there are equal amounts of day and light, darkness and night, in the 24-hour rotation of the earth.

As the moon passes through its union with the sun and progresses into its renewal phase, Saturn has recently entered Pisces, and Pluto is soon to enter Aquarius. For the next month, as the moon passes through all of its phases and cycles back around to re-conjoin one month from now, we can use this particular lunar cycle to reflect on the things that we want to start or initiate in our lives for the coming year, the things we want to nurture, and the people and relationships we want to support.

We can also reflect on the projects and goals we yearn to complete and on what is needed to accomplish them. We can reflect on the things we need to archive and store away for reconnection on another day and differentiate those from the things we need to eliminate, discard, and say goodbye to in a way that releases them back into the great cycle for their own renewal away from us.

Additionally, both the sun and the moon have just completed a whole sign square aspect with Mars, and even though they are still very close to 90°, the whole sign Sextile is giving them a reprieve from the Mars energy, which may otherwise tend to stir up trouble for us in the form of micro-aggressions and hostile actions that, while building patience, leave us exhausted. What this means for us is that we can look forward to a space in our lives for the next while until Mars finally moves back into Cancer and reconnects in a whole sign square with the sun.

This space is going to be a reprieve for us, as we will have a much easier flow of the energies in our life that drive us toward action and toward engaging with our facilities of communication within our relationships and the ways we express ourselves. At the end of March, Mars will be moving into Cancer and reconnecting with that whole sign square aspect with the sun. Meanwhile, the moon will be moving into conjunction with Mars right at the very end of March.

At this point, both the moon and Mars will be in Cancer. The moon will be applying and to an exact whole sign square aspect with the Sun in Aries, and the sun will be separate from the same exact square with Mars. We can expect that to be a time where we find ourselves harnessing our energy of action and individuation to reconnect with our environment and our inner goddess.
