Living the Myth: Asteroids, Synchronicity, and the Work of Lori Kaufman
There are stories we seek—and stories that seem to be seeking us. Lori Kaufman lives in that mysterious place in between.

For the past five years, she has been quietly, obsessively building a mythic archive—an ever-growing encyclopedia of asteroid archetypes, drawn from ancient stories across cultures and etched into the very fabric of astrology. What began as a side project has now become something sacred, something strange, and something stunningly alive.
Each asteroid carries a name, a story, a signature—and as Lori has discovered, those names have a way of showing up exactly when we need them.
Reclaiming the Feminine
Lori’s entry point into the asteroid world came through a kind of dissonance: why, she wondered, are the traditional feminine archetypes in astrology limited to Venus and the Moon? Lover and mother—was that all?
Through the teachings of Demetra George, Lori discovered the four main asteroid goddesses—Ceres, Juno, Vesta, Pallas—and something in her unlocked. “These are the sisters of the planets,” she says. “And they carry their own power.”
That opened the door to a lifelong journey—across cultures, across myths, across constellations.
When Obsession Becomes Devotion
The research began as a personal archive: tracking every asteroid she could find, flipping through dusty myth books, and cross-referencing stories with the NASA database.
“My Aquarius stellium couldn’t stop,” she admits with a laugh.
Eventually, she hit the Google Docs character limit—not once, but multiple times. The work had grown too big to be called a project. Now, it was a manuscript. A massive one. Over 2,000 pages. A through K alone spans nearly 800 pages.
Each entry includes the asteroid number, mythic background, retelling of the story, lessons, affirmations, interpretation guidance, astronomy data, and even cautionary notes for when the archetype shows up in shadow.
It’s not just astrology—it’s mythography. It’s soul work.
The Weird and the Woven
The most remarkable part of Lori’s work isn’t just the volume—it’s the synchronicity.
Time and again, the archetypes she’s researching seem to spill over into her real life. Editing an entry on Elatus, she meets a woman who was shot in the elbow—the exact mythological injury Elatus received. A surprise box of pomegranates shows up on her doorstep the same day Pluto transits her Persephone asteroid. She looks up an obscure Egyptian myth and finds every figure in a client’s chart—conjunct the Sun, Moon, and Ascendant.
“These aren’t just metaphors,” she says. “They’re living stories.”
Lori sees the asteroid system as something deeply intuitive, something that works like tarot or oracles—archetypes rising up to be seen, to be honored, to be integrated.
And that’s where her new workshop comes in.
Live Your Personal Myth – A December Workshop
🌀 3-week live course
📅 Tuesdays in December 2025
🕖 7:00 PM Eastern / 4:00 PM Pacific
🎓 Participants receive a custom list of asteroids prominent in their chart
💫 Learn to identify personal archetypes, trace synchronicities, and engage living myth through your natal chart
Lori will be sharing her method for reading asteroid placements by focusing on what’s tightly conjunct the Sun, Moon, and Ascendant. Her sessions are rich in storytelling, community reflection, and spiritual symbolism. Participants are encouraged to bring their own synchronicities and personal myths into the space.
“I think storytelling is how we actually learn the asteroids,” she says. “The mythology comes alive in people’s lives. That’s where the magic is.”
Whether you’re new to asteroids or already lost in the labyrinth, this workshop offers a way to begin mapping the symbolic terrain of your own mythic life.

Final Thoughts
Asteroids aren’t just celestial rocks. In Lori’s hands, they are keys. Keys to doors you didn’t know existed, in your chart, in your psyche, in your past.
This isn’t predictive astrology—it’s participatory. It’s alive.
And the myth you’re living?
You might just be ready to name it.
