Solstice 2025
The Dark That Holds
The dark reached its peak last night.
That dark that holds,
comforts and cares for those
who enter it.
I need the dark,
it’s where I store my mushrooms.
Those mushrooms that give me
a peak into the realms of
not me
through connection to a light I
can only see within.
Dark is so dark—
the sun dancing with the vast emptiness of space.
It is a star in someone else’s sky—
Just as their sun is a star in mine.
The emptiness looks dark
only it isn’t dark in the sense of the
dark side of the force.
The emptiness, the dark of
no-light is what transmits and
carries the light to me.
That is the dark that holds—
the darkness that peaked last night in the
current cycle of time.
Darkness that nourishes the mycelium,
the neurons of Earth.
Darkness I see when I close my eyes
to find the light within.
And now the light is returning,
I open my eyes and still I see
the light within me.
Only now, that inner light I know
is outside me too
because I can see it clearly
within you.
